The College of Southern Nevada offers robust health sciences curricula in a number of specialized programs including nursing, dental assisting, emergency medical technician and cardio-respiratory therapy. To further the learning experience and enhance the programs offered, the College invested in skills labs, simulation spaces and classrooms. Harley Ellis Devereaux served as the simulation consultant to the local design team to provide programming and design the simulation spaces within the project.
The simulation rooms are glass enclosed to allow for observation, but can also be visually isolated when a private scenario is more appropriate. The project also included several specialized skill laboratory spaces specific to cardio-respiratory therapy education including a pulmonary function testing laboratory and an invasive skills laboratory. Classrooms for health science education incorporate latest technological hardware with a variety of media.
